Politician Elene Khoshtaria, who is currently in custody, has undergone medical examinations at the Todua Medical Center. This information was confirmed by Zura Chkhaidze, the clinical director of the Vivamed clinic.
“I do not have information regarding the results; this question should be addressed to her attending physician,” Chkhaidze stated.
Khoshtaria’s attending physician, Ani Kavtaradze, explained that the patient’s transfer had been planned in advance and was not related to any deterioration in her condition. According to the Pirveli TV channel, Elene Khoshtaria was returned to the Vivamed clinic after the examinations were completed.
According to Kavtaradze, doctors expect to receive the results of all scheduled tests by approximately July 20, after which the treatment strategy for her underlying condition will be determined. She also reported that Khoshtaria’s condition remains stable, and the pain she suffered while in detention has significantly subsided.
“Scheduled examinations were conducted today. The transfer was not related to any complications. We had previously agreed with the Penitentiary Service that some of the tests would take place at Vivamed and others at a different clinic, depending on the attending physician’s decision. This was purely a planned transfer for diagnostic purposes.
The examinations are nearing completion. By around July 20, we will have the results of all instrumental and laboratory tests, after which we will be able to begin treating the primary diagnosis.
Elene’s condition is stable and gradually improving. The pain syndrome that troubled her during her time in prison has now been largely relieved thanks to adequate therapy. However, the primary treatment has not yet begun, as we are waiting for all examinations to be completed,” Ani Kavtaradze said.
The Special Penitentiary Service made the decision to transfer Elene Khoshtaria to the Vivamed clinic after the opposition politician’s health deteriorated while in custody.
