Georgia and Turkmenistan remain stable and reliable trading partners, and economic cooperation between the two countries continues to develop actively, the Georgian Prime Minister stated during his speech at the second Georgian-Turkmen Business Forum.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the positive trend has continued into the current year.

“I would like to express my special respect to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Your state visit to Georgia clearly reflects the high level of mutual trust between our countries and the strategic importance of our cooperation.

I would also like to thank the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia for organizing this important business forum. I am confident that the event will contribute to establishing new business ties and implementing mutually beneficial projects.

Today, Georgia and Turkmenistan are stable and reliable trading partners. Last year, trade turnover between our countries grew by 26% and exceeded 100 million US dollars. The positive dynamic continues this year as well. These indicators clearly confirm that economic cooperation is developing.

Despite the progress achieved, trade and economic relations between our countries do not yet fully reflect the significant potential that Georgia and Turkmenistan possess. That is why it is important to strengthen joint efforts, expand cooperation, facilitate the creation of new business ties, and maximize the opportunities of our partnership,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.

He also noted that the results of implementing the ambitious infrastructure agenda are already evident.

“In 2025, the volume of container transit along the Middle Corridor through the territory of Georgia increased by 33%, while cargo turnover along the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway route grew nearly sixfold…

We welcome Turkmenistan’s interest in developing logistics and warehousing infrastructure near Georgia’s Black Sea ports. I am confident that the existing ports, as well as the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the free industrial zone being established on its basis, will become an important platform for Turkmen companies to access regional markets.

Today, more than ever, the role of the private sector is particularly important, as it is business that translates political partnership between countries into concrete economic results. The state provides a stable, predictable, and competitive environment, while the private sector generates new initiatives, investments, and jobs,” Kobakhidze stated.
