Grigol Gegelia, the Foreign Affairs Secretary of the “Lelo – Strong Georgia” party, commented on the statement by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, calling it the “hundredth instance” of the Kremlin openly praising the “Georgian Dream” government and endorsing its policies.
“It is obvious to everyone that the ‘Kotsy’ [a derogatory term for Georgian Dream supporters] are Russian, and that this regime and the Kremlin are one and the same. They are united by the same goals, the same rhetoric, political language, and worldview. The common goal of the Kremlin and the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime is a Georgia without Georgians, politically, economically, and geopolitically bound to the fascist Russian Federation.
The rhetoric of ‘Georgian Dream’ representatives and the fact that this rhetoric and their policies please the Kremlin should serve as clear confirmation and a wake-up call for every true citizen of Georgia. There is no clearer proof that this regime and the Kremlin are one and the same. For the first time in history, Georgia has an administration that is openly praised and supported by the occupier of our territories and our enemy—the Russian Federation,” Grigol Gegelia stated.
Earlier, Maria Zakharova called the “independent policy” of the Georgian authorities a “bone in the throat” of the West. According to her, Georgia is a prime example of unprecedented interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.
