Maria Zakharova: The West is ready to use all levers to bring about a change of government in Georgia

News

The official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, calls the “independent policy” of the Georgian authorities a “bone in the throat” for the West. At a recent press conference, she stated:

“If we are talking about international relations, about the agenda related to the issues of sovereignty, independence, and non-interference in internal affairs, then modern Georgia is precisely a clear example of unceremonious, and at times even unprecedented, interference in the affairs of a state that possesses all the attributes of sovereignty…

This irritates Western representatives to such an extent that they are ready to use all available levers of influence to oust the current government, which is objectionable to them, solely because it acts in the interests of its own people, knows its people and their history, and builds the future on this foundation, rather than serving those who have nothing to do with the Georgian people and their history,” TASS quotes Zakharova as saying.
