Turkey remains the country with the highest taxi fares among the nations bordering Georgia. This is evidenced by updated data from the Numbeo service (an international online database), which compared the average cost of a one-kilometer taxi ride in 99 countries. According to the study, the average cost of a one-kilometer taxi ride in Turkey is $0.85, placing the country 68th in the global ranking.
Georgia itself ranks second among its neighbors. According to Numbeo, the average cost of a ride here is $0.71 per kilometer. In the overall ranking, the country occupies the 76th position.
They are followed by:
- Azerbaijan – $0.59 per kilometer (81st place);
- Russia – $0.45 (87th place);
- Armenia – $0.43 (88th place), where taxis proved to be the cheapest among Georgia’s neighbors.
In the global ranking, the highest taxi fares were recorded in Switzerland, where the cost per kilometer reaches $4.70. The top three also include Luxembourg ($4.06) and Albania ($3.67).

The lowest taxi fares were recorded in the Philippines — $0.23 per kilometer. Other countries with the most affordable rates include India ($0.26), Egypt and Iran ($0.30 each), Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan ($0.33 each), Tunisia and Moldova ($0.34 each), China ($0.35), and Indonesia ($0.39).
