Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the Georgian Dream party and Mayor of Tbilisi, stated that the letter from US President Donald Trump to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is viewed positively. He noted that the current US administration, led by Donald Trump, is capable of reviewing decisions that the Georgian authorities consider unfair to Georgia and its people.
“Of course, we view this letter positively. We have repeatedly stated that the Georgian authorities are ready to turn a new page in our relations. We are completely open and ready for friendship and partnership. The unfair actions of the previous US administration toward Georgia were categorically unacceptable to us. I am referring to the sanctions that were imposed without any explanation. There were no grounds for their imposition. This was done solely as a means of pressure and threats.
I believe that the current administration, led by President Trump, has every opportunity to quickly review those unfair decisions made against the Georgian state and the Georgian people. We are ready for friendship and cooperation. When we speak of partnership and strategic relations, the interests of both countries—both the American and Georgian peoples—must be protected,” Kaladze said.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump sent a letter to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze thanking him for his congratulations on US Independence Day. In the letter, Trump noted that joint work between the US and Georgia in support of the sovereignty, security, and long-term prosperity of both countries would allow for significant progress.
