“Sentencing journalist Vakho Sanaya to 14 days of arrest for a Facebook post shows how quickly Georgia is sliding into Kremlin-style repression,” Member of the European Parliament Rasa Juknevičienė wrote on social network X.
“At this rate, Bidzina Ivanishvili will soon surpass even his masters in Moscow. The European Union must respond to this. Solidarity with Vakho Sanaya!” the MEP added.
As a reminder, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced journalist Vakho Sanaya to 14 days of administrative arrest for a social media post regarding Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and MP Vladimer Bozhadze. The journalist was detained near his home.
