A court has granted 5,000 lari bail to the defendant in the attack on comedian Onise Okriashvili. He was released from custody after posting bail. Prosecutors had requested a bail measure of 5,000 lari, requiring the accused to remain in custody until the amount was paid.
According to an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the night of July 22, 2026, in Tbilisi, the defendant attacked Onise Okriashvili over remarks he considered offensive toward Georgian writer Nodar Dumbadze.
Investigators say the man struck Okriashvili several times on the head and other parts of his body. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect a few hours after the incident. He has been charged under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (“Violence”).
