The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has launched an investigation following the discovery of an object suspected to be a munition in the sea off the settlement of Makhinjauri.

As the ministry told the online news agency Interpressnews, the investigation is being conducted under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which establishes liability for the illegal acquisition and possession of weapons and ammunition.

According to available information, the discovered object has been sent for forensic examination, the results of which will determine its type and origin.
