Salome Zourabichvili, the fifth president of Georgia, has criticized the Georgian authorities’ decision to investigate widespread power outages under a sabotage charge.
The politician wrote on social media that Georgian Dream resorted to the sabotage narrative following the second major nationwide power outage. Zourabichvili is convinced that these allegations could subsequently be used for political purposes.
“In Georgia, the authorities explained the second nationwide power outage as sabotage. Now let’s see how this pro-Russian authoritarian regime will use these allegations. Expect new internal and external enemies — everyone except Russia,” she wrote.
As a reminder, emergency power outages occurred across Georgia on July 24 and 25. In response, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSG) launched an investigation under a sabotage charge.
