A truck overturned on Rustaveli Avenue during rehabilitation work. Footage circulating in the media shows a minor child being led out of the overturned vehicle. The Tbilisi City Hall informed the publication “Publika” that no one was injured in the incident, and that the work at the site is being carried out by the company GWP.
GWP confirmed that a minor child was inside the truck. The company stated that this constitutes a gross violation of occupational safety standards and contractual terms. The company is investigating the incident and, upon completion of the inquiry, will take appropriate legal action against the contractor.
“During rehabilitation work on the water supply network on Rustaveli Avenue, a dump truck belonging to a GWP contractor moved close to the edge of a trench, causing the soil to collapse and the vehicle to slide. When the driver attempted to maneuver the vehicle out independently, the edge of the trench sustained further damage, and the vehicle overturned. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The work process at the site continues uninterrupted, in normal operating mode. Georgian Water and Power emphasizes that a gross violation of occupational safety standards and contractual terms was identified—a minor child was inside the dump truck. Relevant GWP departments are investigating the incident on site to establish the detailed circumstances. Immediately after the investigation concludes, the company will take legal action against the contracting organization as stipulated by the contract and applicable legislation,” the company stated.
