“We accuse the bloody Saakashvili regime of unleashing the war. Formally, this country had a traitor for a commander-in-chief at the time.” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze made this statement on the 18th anniversary of the start of the Russo-Georgian War.
At the same time, Kobakhidze noted that Moscow had carried out the occupation of 20% of Georgia’s territory, adding that “of course, the betrayal by Saakashvili, his regime, and the ‘National Movement’ can in no way overshadow this crime.”
“Our heroes fell victim precisely to the fact that our so-called commander-in-chief was a traitor, a foreign agent acting on the orders of external forces. This is the reality.”
The Prime Minister believes that in 2008 a “crime was committed against our state, country, our people, and our soldiers.” “I will repeat once again that on the one hand there was the betrayal by Saakashvili and his regime, and on the other hand there was the occupation carried out by the Russian Federation. The main thing is that we give a proper assessment to both facts,” Kobakhidze added.
The current Prime Minister referred to Mikheil Saakashvili as a “foreign agent imposed through the rigged elections” of 2008. “And this foreign agent then fulfilled his task; he and his bloody regime started the war, and a corresponding, very grave aftermath followed,” the head of government stated.
