A freight train struck a man in the settlement of Chakvi. The victim died at the scene. As local news outlet Ajara Times reports, the deceased is believed to have been a foreign national.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs told the publication Tabula that an investigation has been launched under Part 4 of Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which addresses violations of traffic safety or operational rules for railway, water, air, or cableway transport resulting in human death.
Earlier, on August 13, a train struck a 16-year-old girl near the Batumi Botanical Garden. The minor died at the scene.
In addition, on August 4, another young man was killed after being hit by a train in Chakvi.
