According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, officers from the Isani-Samgori District Main Police Department in Tbilisi have arrested a man on charges of the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.
“During a search of the suspect’s residence in Tbilisi, law enforcement officers seized illegal firearms of various models and ammunition as material evidence, including: an automatic firearm, four pistols of various models, a revolver, a hunting rifle, two small-caliber rifles, the explosive TNT, a hand grenade, three firearm suppressors, as well as live rounds and magazines of various calibers,” the Ministry reported.
An investigation is underway under Parts 1 and 3 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of up to 7 years in prison.
