At least six people were killed and several dozen injured in a road accident involving a passenger bus travelling on the Tbilisi–Moscow route. The incident occurred late at night on 30 August on the Kavkaz federal highway near the town of Zheleznovodsk in Stavropol Krai.
The scheduled passenger bus, carrying mostly Georgian citizens, was travelling at an unsafe speed, collided with a KamAZ truck, and veered into a ditch. Nearly all survivors sustained injuries. According to preliminary reports, there were 43 people on board the vehicle.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, a representative of the Georgian Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in the Russian Federation has travelled to the scene to provide assistance to the citizens.
