Georgia’s Economy Grew by 6.9% in Q2 2026

In the second quarter of 2026, Georgia’s gross domestic product at current prices reached GEL 28,147.0 million, while real GDP growth stood at 6.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The GDP deflator in Q2 2026 was 3.0%, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the agency, notable positive contributions to economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 were driven by the following sectors: information and communication (16.6%); wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8.0%); transportation and storage (19.8%); arts, entertainment, and recreation (17.4%); manufacturing (7.3%); and human health and social work activities (15.0%). Declines were registered in sectors including construction (-4.8%) as well as agriculture, forestry, and fishing (-3.5%).

In the sectoral breakdown of GDP, the largest shares were held by wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (14.9%) and real estate activities (9.1%). These were followed by manufacturing (8.9%), information and communication (7.6%), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (6.5%), construction (6.5%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (6.4%), education (6.4%), as well as transportation and storage (6.3%).

Quarterly GDP calculations are based on monthly and quarterly data. The results of annual surveys typically differ from quarterly figures, necessitating revisions to quarterly GDP estimates in light of annual data.

“Following the release of annual data for the preceding period, along with revisions to the figures for the four quarters of that year, the indicators for the first and second quarters of the current year are also recalculated. In November 2026, once the 2025 annual results are finalized, the quarterly figures for 2025 will be adjusted. Note: the revised data will be published on November 13, 2026,” Geostat stated in its release.
