The Financial Transparency Department of the State Audit Office of Georgia has launched monitoring into the Tbilisi School of Political Studies. As the agency told Interpressnews (IPN), the inquiry was initiated in connection with the non-governmental organization’s potential receipt of a grant without government approval.
“In order to comprehensively examine the matter, the State Audit Office will act within the powers provided by Georgian legislation, including the Law of Georgia ‘On Grants,’” the Audit Office stated.
The Tbilisi School of Political Studies was founded as an NGO in 1999. It operates under the auspices of the Council of Europe and is headed by politician Armaz Akhvlediani.
