Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with Ignazio Cassis, Vice President of the Swiss Confederation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
According to the government administration, the sides discussed cooperation between Georgia and the Swiss Confederation based on mutual respect and shared values, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. They highlighted the positive momentum in the development of political, economic, inter-parliamentary ties, and people-to-people contacts.
“The Prime Minister thanked the Swiss Confederation for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, as well as the policy of non-recognition of the occupied territories. Special emphasis was placed on Switzerland’s key role as a mediator in the absence of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed Ignazio Cassis’s upcoming visit to Georgia as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, scheduled for October. It was noted that Georgia remains a constructive and responsible OSCE participating State, supporting dialogue and upholding the principles of international law,” the press release stated.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, was attended by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN David Bakradze.
