According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, an alarm was triggered by an early warning system installed in the Devdoraki Gorge, which detects changes even at minimal rises in water levels in the riverbed.
The ministry reported that, based on the received information and in accordance with established protocol, citizens present at the Dariali border checkpoint, along with patrol police officers, customs officials, border police, and private company personnel working at the crossing, were evacuated to a safe location.
“At the same time, as a preventive measure, the movement of all types of motor vehicles has been restricted in both directions near the village of Gveleti,” the statement said.
