Georgia national football team head coach Willy Sagnol is leaving his post, the Georgian Football Federation has announced. Georgian specialist Ramaz Svanadze will take charge of the national team through the end of 2028.
As for the under-21 national team previously managed by Svanadze, his assistant Giorgi Adamia will take over for the final three matches of the qualifying phase, according to the federation.
“Georgian specialist Ramaz Svanadze will lead the Georgia national football team until the end of 2028. Svanadze replaces Frenchman Willy Sagnol as head coach.
Sagnol had been in charge of the Georgian national team since February 2021. Over this period, the national team played 57 matches. Under Sagnol’s stewardship, the Georgian side achieved historic success: in 2024, the team made its debut in the final tournament of the European Championship, advancing past the group stage into the round of 16.
Until today, Ramaz Svanadze served as head coach of Georgia’s under-21 national team, reaching the European Championship finals twice with the squad.
In the final three matches of the under-21 qualifying campaign, Svanadze will be replaced by his assistant Giorgi Adamia.
