A Russian tourist has been found murdered in occupied Abkhazia. Amina Bikbova, a 26-year-old resident of Russia’s Orenburg region, had been vacationing in Gagra. After she failed to contact her family for several days, her relatives turned to local “law enforcement agencies.”
“Investigators grew suspicious of Edgar Garevich Abukhba, born in 2001, a resident of Gudauta temporarily living and working in the city of Gagra, who met with Amina Bikbova on Ardzinba Avenue on the evening of September 23, after which they left by taxi. He was taken to the internal affairs department, where he confessed to the murder during interrogation,” according to a video posted on the Telegram channel of Abkhazia’s de facto Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
According to the suspect’s testimony, he strangled the woman during an argument while at a rented property in the village of Psakhara. Attempting to conceal the crime on the morning of September 24, he used an acquaintance’s car to transport the victim’s body to the Bzyb Gorge area and abandoned it in bushes beside a dirt road. According to the suspect, he threw her mobile phone and personal belongings into a dumpster.
