The Georgian Government Administration has published a photo on social media showing Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze with US President Donald Trump.
The post notes that the photograph was taken on September 22 in New York during an official reception hosted by the American leader in honor of heads of state attending the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Kobakhidze first spoke about his meeting with Donald Trump on September 27.
Speaking to journalists at the time, he stated that he had discussed the restoration of the strategic partnership with the US president and said that Tbilisi had already taken steps in that direction.
“I briefly noted that we want to restore the strategic partnership. This largely
depends on the United States itself. For our part, we have already taken a step and are waiting for reciprocal steps. That was my message during brief conversations—both with the US President and with the Secretary of State.”
Following the suspension of the strategic partnership between the two countries and Donald Trump’s return to the US presidency, the Georgian side has repeatedly sought to establish communication with the incoming Washington administration.
In July 2025, for instance, Irakli Kobakhidze addressed an open letter to the US leader and Vice President JD Vance, expressing Georgia’s readiness to resume cooperation with the United States.
