The situation in Georgia will be among the matters addressed at the European Union Foreign Affairs Council meeting scheduled for October 12 in Luxembourg, according to an announcement on the official EU website.

“Under Current Affairs, the Council will address the situation in Georgia,” the press release states.

The meeting will be chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

The press release notes that EU foreign ministers will discuss Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its increasingly acute hybrid campaign directed against the European Union and its member states. The discussion will cover EU response measures to heightened Russian hybrid activity, as well as continued support for Ukraine and pressure on the Russian Federation.

Ahead of the main debate, ministers will hold an informal exchange of views with their Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha.

The Council will also discuss developments in the Middle East in light of recent events in Iran, paying particular attention to the issue of freedom of navigation.

In addition, ministers will exchange views on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
