Seasonal flu vaccination will begin across Georgia on October 21. According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccine is free of charge for all citizens and fully funded by the state.

The ministry reported that under the national immunization program, Georgia has procured 200,000 doses of a French-manufactured trivalent seasonal flu vaccine (Vaxigrip, produced by SANOFI WINTHROP INDUSTRIE), which is among the preparations recommended by the WHO.

“The vaccine is adapted to the strains expected to circulate during this flu season. Vaccination is particularly important for high-risk groups: individuals with chronic illnesses, cancer patients, pregnant women, citizens aged 60 and older, medical personnel, as well as residents and staff of shelters and nursing homes.

The vaccine can be administered starting from six months of age at healthcare facilities and clinics offering vaccination services, and it is completely free for beneficiaries,” the statement reads.
