David Okitashvili, president of the Georgian Chamber of Culture and a vocal supporter of the ruling Georgian Dream party, published another post on social media addressed, according to him, to the supporters of former Minister of Culture Tika Rukhadze and former head of the State Security Service Mamuka Mdinaradze who had criticized his previous statement.
Reflecting on October 2012—the period when Georgian Dream came to power—Okitashvili asked: “I wonder, what specific contribution did Mdinaradze and Tika Rukhadze make to the victory of October 1, 2012?”
“Mamuka Mdinaradze drove out and dumped the people of 2012, and who ended up dumped in the end is plain to see,” the president of the Georgian Chamber of Culture wrote.
According to Okitashvili, any attempts to make it seem as though “the key architects of the October 1, 2012 victory can simply be consigned to oblivion” are entirely unacceptable to him.
As a reminder, Tinatin Rukhadze stepped down as Minister of Culture in July 2026, citing health issues that required urgent treatment. Mamuka Mdinaradze, for his part, announced his departure from politics in August.
The Georgian opposition previously suggested that David Okitashvili’s accusations might be aimed at preparing public opinion for the detention of the politicians.
