A second suspect has been detained in Poland in connection with the murder of artist and critic of the Russian authorities Robert Kuzovkov, widely known under the pseudonym Semyon Skrepetsky. The suspect is a 22-year-old Georgian national, Makhmud A., whom a court has remanded in custody for three months.
According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW, Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego), Makhmud A. aided the prime suspect in the murder, Elnur A. Investigators have also charged him with the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The ABW reported that Makhmud A. arrived in Poland from Georgia on October 18, 2026, accompanied by two fellow nationals. All three were detained the following day. Deportation proceedings have been launched against the other two, along with a ten-year entry ban.
Several months earlier, on June 18—just three days after the murder—another Georgian citizen, Elnur A., the prime suspect in the case, was detained. He was placed in pre-trial detention for the duration of the investigation.
Robert Kuzovkov was an artist known on social media for his satirical cartoons targeting Vladimir Putin and other Russian political figures, notably Ramzan Kadyrov.
He worked under the pseudonym Semyon Skrepetsky. The artist was killed on June 15, 2026, in the Polish town of Biała Podlaska.
According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, there are grounds to believe the crime was politically motivated. He added that if Russian involvement is confirmed, it could be classified as an act of “state terrorism.”
