Georgian Dream is seeking to ban five opposition parties. The list includes the United National Movement, the Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia – Lelo, the Federalists, and former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s party, For Georgia.
This is not merely another standoff between the authorities and the opposition. At stake is the fundamental question of who will be allowed to participate in the country’s political life at all, and on what terms.
On what grounds is the ruling party pushing to outlaw its opponents? Who will make the final decision, and how? And what does this imply for political competition and future elections in Georgia?
We discuss these issues today on Ardashelia LIVE.
Guests on the show: Zaza Bibilashvili, UNM
Davit Zurabishvili, former member of the Georgian Dream Coalition
