The Staff of the Parliament of Georgia plans to purchase an annual ChatGPT Business subscription for seven employees, allocating up to 10,500 GEL (Georgian lari) for the service. An additional 826.84 GEL has been earmarked for Claude AI Pro, another artificial intelligence-based tool. Details of these expenditures were published on the state procurement website.
Artificial intelligence is intended to take over a portion of routine data handling and document processing. The Parliamentary Budget Office expects to use ChatGPT to analyze statistics, prepare analytical reports, and produce economic forecasts.
According to the procurement justification, the service will facilitate the “optimization and automation of workflows, as well as the rapid analysis of large volumes of data and text.” The administration anticipates that this will allow personnel to dedicate less time to everyday administrative tasks.
The justification document further explains that hiring third-party intermediaries would incur additional commission fees, whereas a direct subscription ensures access without local markups. The parliamentary staff considers this direct procurement model the most cost-effective solution for the budget.
The initiative to implement AI originated from the Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Staff, the Public Relations Department, and the Parliamentary Budget Office. On November 4, the administration applied to the State Procurement Agency for approval to purchase ChatGPT Business. The application remains under review, with a decision expected by November 10.
