Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza party, which won the parliamentary elections in Hungary, stated that he would continue to deepen relations with Georgia, would be pleased to visit Tbilisi, and emphasized that Hungary would not interfere in the internal affairs of any country.
Speaking on Hungary’s relations with both Georgia and the Balkans, the future prime minister stated, “Of course, we will continue to maintain good relations with Georgia.”
“Overall, I would note that the fact that Viktor Orbán’s government had strong ties with a particular country in the Balkans or elsewhere does not mean that Hungary will have poorer relations with that same country.
And if Hungary had poor relations with any country, we will improve them, as it is in our common interest to work together, cooperate, and achieve success together,” stated Péter Magyar.
He also added that he would be happy to visit Tbilisi or “any other place, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.”
Magyar added that during his time in power, Budapest would not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
“We will not attempt to influence elections in your country, in North Macedonia, or anywhere else. This is not our style, nor is it the business of any European government. Everyone is elected to represent the electorate of their respective country,” Magyar stated.
