MEP Sergey Lagodinsky commented on the opposition’s victory in the Hungarian parliamentary elections, noting that the EU had been “dreaming” of this for 16 years.
He pointed to the “success” of US Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit to Budapest for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of the elections. He added—isn’t it time to invite Vance to Tbilisi as well?
We had been dreaming of this moment for 16 years. Feeling with all the freedom loving Hungarians. And peace loving Ukrainians. Orban is over. Long live freedom!

Zurabishvili on the elections in Hungary: “Dictators leave; nothing in this world lasts forever”
It should be noted that in the parliamentary elections in Hungary on April 12, according to preliminary vote counts, the opposition party Tisza, led by Péter Magyar, is in the lead.
The politician has already stated that the current Hungarian Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Fidesz party, Viktor Orbán, has already conceded defeat for his team and congratulated Magyar on his victory.
Orbán, for his part, noted that the election results are clear, though painful for him. He also stated that his party would continue to work for the benefit of Hungary while in the opposition.
Magyar has already been congratulated by EU leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who emphasized that “Hungary has made a choice in favor of Europe.”
