“The ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ party is ready to participate in all elections without exception,” stated Irakli Kupradze, the General Secretary of the opposition party, at a press conference while commenting on a statement by Georgia’s fifth president. Earlier, Salome Zourabichvili stated that she believes the “departure of ‘Georgian Dream’ can happen through elections.”
“‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ has always been consistent and state-oriented in its strategic decisions. We have always maintained that elections are the only right and peaceful way to change power.
In order for us to be able to send Ivanishvili’s government home, ‘Lelo’ is ready to participate in all elections without exception.
In recent years, skepticism, boycotts, and electoral nihilism from a portion of the opposition have undermined the very idea of elections, and this will have serious consequences in the future. It is good that this inconsistency, demonstrated by part of the opposition, is changing. We welcome this. The opposition flank must return to a proper strategic struggle so that we can represent the interests of citizens in politics and remove Ivanishvili’s government as quickly as possible.
In this struggle, ‘Lelo’ will be the primary leading force that will make a key contribution to the removal of Ivanishvili’s power,” Kupradze stated.
As a reminder, Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zourabichvili, stated that she believes in elections and wants the departure of “Georgian Dream” (the ruling party) to occur through the ballot box.
“This is a stable and peaceful path for the country,” Salome Zourabichvili stated in a video message published on social media.
