The third president of Georgia is calling on opponents of the government and Bidzina Ivanishvili to move toward active measures. In a Facebook post, Mikheil Saakashvili writes:
“What conclusions will Ivanishvili draw from Hungary? Just as he has always believed I was a fool for following the West—by holding honest elections and peacefully transferring power without arresting him; that Eduard Shevardnadze was weak because he ‘let me run wild’ and did not arrest me; that Aslan Abashidze gave up power too easily—he now thinks Viktor Orbán was a fool for not arresting Magyar and for holding free elections.
Thus, he is finally convinced that everyone must be arrested and the very thought of free elections must never be entertained. It is necessary to shut down television, restrict social media, fine and imprison people for ‘likes,’ keep Europe (and essentially America) at a distance, and rely solely on Russia.
How should we respond to this? Not just with walks from the Philharmonic to Rustaveli, but with nationwide radical and bold resistance. By creating civil activity groups, through unity, and by going on the offensive.
Let us move out of Facebook and television studios and onto the field of active action. There is no other way,” Saakashvili stated.
