Georgia’s SSG: Official from “Enguri HPP” structure detained

The head of a department at KodoriHPP LLC, a subsidiary of Enguri HPP (Hydroelectric Power Plant) LLC, has been detained on charges of large-scale embezzlement and misappropriation of funds, according to the State Security Service (SSG).

“It should be noted that the aforementioned LLC operates within the territory of occupied Abkhazia. The detainee has fully cooperated with the investigation and confessed to the crime.

He has been charged under Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of seven to 11 years in prison.

For those who believe they can use Georgia’s occupied territories to embezzle and misappropriate state funds: such crimes will not go unpunished, even if committed within the occupied territories,” the agency’s statement reads.
