Taxi drivers and couriers held a protest march in Tbilisi. Participants headed to Tbilisi International Airport and then continued their procession to the corporate offices where their management is located.
Protesters are demanding decent working conditions and fair pay. According to the couriers, working under the current rates is unacceptable for them.
The taxi drivers’ demands are as follows:
- Reducing the commission to 10%;
- Establishing a minimum fare of 2 lari (GEL) per kilometer;
- Providing health insurance for employees;
- Accounting for time spent in traffic jams in the trip cost;
- Adjusting passenger pickup and drop-off points to prevent drivers from facing issues with police and traffic cameras;
- Opening offices in major cities to resolve issues with responsible officials;
- Reverting the “waiting button” to its previous version (passengers often fail to confirm waiting, causing drivers to lose income);
- Prohibiting app blocking due to low activity ratings;
- Having the company cover fines for drivers registered without a license in Tbilisi;
- Dismissing or blocking employees only in accordance with labor law standards;
- Accounting for zones with high access difficulty;
- Introducing a night fare;
- Correcting errors in mileage calculation;
- Signing a collective bargaining agreement with employee representatives.
