Two MEPs Call for Sanctions Against TV Imedi, Rustavi 2, and POSTV

Members of the European Parliament Krzysztof Brejza and Michał Szczerba are demanding the imposition of sanctions against the Georgian pro-government television channels TV Imedi, Rustavi 2, and POSTV.

In an amendment proposed by MEPs Brejza and Szczerba, TV Imedi, Rustavi 2, and POSTV are mentioned in the context of “spreading disinformation and anti-European propaganda.”

The document notes that they act “as de facto communication tools of the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime.”

The authors of the amendment call on the European Union and EU member states to “consider appropriate and proportionate restrictive measures against individuals and organizations involved in the organization and financing of these campaigns.”
