Roads near Sameba Cathedral to be Closed on May 11

Traffic restrictions will be temporarily introduced in the vicinity of the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba) in Tbilisi on May 11. The restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in connection with the election of the Patriarch of Georgia.

According to the capital’s City Hall, vehicle traffic will be completely prohibited from Bukhaidze Street toward Samreklos Street. Bukhaidze Street itself will also be partially closed; only pedestrians will be allowed to move through this section.

In addition, restrictions will affect Akhvlediani Square, Akhvlediani Rise, and the section from Niabi Street toward Gumbri Street. Near the Avlabari metro station, traffic will be restricted from Gonashvili Street toward Meskhishvili Street.

Parking zones for event attendees will be organized at Akhvlediani Square and Khetagurova Street. From there, the Sameba Cathedral can be reached via special shuttle buses or on foot along Akhvlediani Street. Access to the cathedral will also be possible from the Avlabari metro station via Gonashvili Street.
