A traditional Saturday protest march is taking place in Tbilisi. Today’s procession is dedicated to citizens convicted in connection with the events of October 4, 2025.
On May 7, the Tbilisi City Court delivered its verdict in the case involving the attempted storming of the presidential palace during the October protests. Ten defendants received prison sentences. Notably, world-renowned opera singer Paata Burchuladze was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Protesters in Tbilisi are chanting: “Freedom for Paata Burchuladze!” and “Freedom for prisoners of conscience!”
Demonstrators gathered at the Philharmonic building to march toward the parliament on Rustaveli Avenue. Continuous protests have been ongoing here for over a year, while civil activists and opposition members organize mass marches in Tbilisi every Saturday.
