Participants of a march marking the Day of Family Sanctity met with children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their parents at Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
The parents unfurled a large banner at the site reading: “Family is our foundation, children are our future. Together, let’s save their lives!”
One of the parents, Kakha Tsikarishvili, appealed to the clergy leading the march for help: “Please, help us save our children.”

The clergy blessed those present, after which the march continued.
At 6:00 PM, the parents and their supporters will begin their traditional Sunday march from the Rustaveli metro station toward the Government Administration building.
Parents of children with Duchenne have been holding a continuous protest outside the government building for 27 days, demanding the provision of necessary medication and remaining there overnight.
The protesters are demanding that the state ensure the import of a drug which, they say, is capable of alleviating the children’s condition and slowing the progression of muscular dystrophy.
