Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Prayed for Reconciliation with Abkhazians and Ossetians

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Shio III delivered an address on the feast day of Saint Simon the Canaanite. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of reconciliation with the Abkhazians and Ossetians, the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, and the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.

“Today we held funeral and memorial services, and prayed for Abkhazia, for the unification of our country. We prayed for those who died on the battlefield in Abkhazia and Samachablo—for Georgians, Abkhazians, and Ossetians alike. We prayed for our unification, for our reconciliation.”

According to the Patriarch, with God’s power and mercy, “everything is possible, and this will definitely happen.”

In his sermon, Shio III also focused on the need to maintain faith and hope for a peaceful future, despite ongoing difficulties and the complex political situation. According to him, the pursuit of unity and reconciliation remains an important spiritual and societal task.
