Traffic patterns in central Tbilisi will change for several days due to events marking Georgia’s Independence Day. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the restrictions will remain in place until May 27–28 inclusive.
As of 8:00 AM on May 27, traffic along Rustaveli Avenue toward Freedom Square had already been partially closed, with the restriction in effect on the section up to the intersection with Zurab Chichinadze Street. Freedom Square itself, along with its adjacent areas, has also been closed off.
Additional restrictions will remain in place beyond this timeframe: until the end of May 28, traffic will be blocked on Atoneli Street near the Orbeliani Palace — the residence of the President of Georgia.
The section near the Dry Bridge, as well as Italy and Atoneli streets, will also remain closed to traffic until May 28 inclusive.
