Georgia to Change Social Assistance Rules from 2027

Georgia is highly likely to change its assessment system for socially vulnerable families starting in 2027, according to Deputy Minister of Health Irina Tsakadze.

She noted that the authorities are working to update the methodology for evaluating families applying for social assistance, with the new system set to be developed by the end of this year.

Tsakadze pointed out that, according to recommendations, the methodology should be reviewed every five years, but it has not been updated in Georgia for more than five years.

The Ministry of Health expects the changes to help distribute funds intended for socially vulnerable citizens more accurately.

Tsakadze also reported that the World Bank is assisting the government in developing the new methodology as part of a human capital development program.
