A Russophobia Monitoring Council has been established in Georgia — it will monitor cases of discrimination, anti-Russian statements, and hate speech in the public sphere, reports Sputnik Georgia.
The Council, which is expected to be headed by pro-Russian activist and leader of the “Eurasia Institute” NGO Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, will collect information on publications, statements, and actions that they consider manifestations of Russophobia.

The dissemination of false information about Russia, the distortion of historical facts, and discrimination based on language or nationality will also be considered Russophobia.

The authors of the initiative emphasize that the monitoring will only concern public materials and statements—by both individuals and organizations.
A legal group will also be established under the Council to examine disputed cases from a legal perspective and, if necessary, prepare appeals to the relevant authorities. The Council plans to publish reports on its work every three months.
According to the organizers, special attention will be paid to events and statements after February 2022. They believe that the number of anti-Russian protests and statements in Georgia has increased over the past few years.
The authors of the initiative called on the Georgian authorities to combat any manifestations of xenophobia and discrimination, stating that respect for national and linguistic diversity is important for stability in society.
