Armenia and the US Sign Strategic Partnership Charter

Armenia and the United States have initialed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Yerevan and Washington on the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project — the parties have fully agreed on the text and provisionally signed it.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also signed the Charter on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries and the Framework Memorandum on Securing Supplies in the Extraction and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Elements between the two countries.

The TRIPP Project

Following their meeting in Washington on January 13, 2026, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a joint statement on the framework for implementing the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP).

The document provides for the launch of a mechanism to establish multimodal transit connectivity through the territory of Armenia, including connecting the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan and integration into the Trans-Caspian Trade Route.

Armenia intends to authorize the creation of the TRIPP Development Company, which is expected to receive the initial right to implement the project for a 49-year term.

It is planned to offer the United States a 74% stake in the company, with Armenia retaining 26%. If the agreement is extended for another 50 years, the share ratio is expected to change.
