Georgian Prime Minister Speaks About Conversation with Zelenskyy on Resetting Relations

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that he discussed the possibility of resetting relations between the two countries with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the further development of the dialogue will depend on concrete steps taken by both sides.

Kobakhidze noted that relations between the authorities of Georgia and Ukraine had deteriorated due to a number of decisions made in Kyiv after the start of the war. At the same time, the politician emphasized, this did not affect relations between the peoples of the two countries.

“We had a conversation with the President of Ukraine, including on the importance of resetting relations. The rest depends on practical steps.

There were concrete actions that worsened relations between the authorities: the recall of the ambassador, the de facto expulsion of our ambassador, as well as the issue of sanctions. The ambassador was recalled because we did not impose sanctions and did not send volunteers to Ukraine with the official consent of the government.

Following this, there were calls from high-ranking representatives of the Ukrainian authorities to open a second front.

These were very difficult steps for our relations. If there is interest, we are ready to reset relations between the governments,” the head of the Georgian government stated.
