Papuna Lotsulashvili, who was subjected to physical force by police officers in Gori, has been detained, according to the detainee’s lawyer, Lasha Tkesheladze.
He stated that the investigation is being conducted under Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates liability for resisting a police officer to obstruct their official duties, accompanied by the threat of violence.
As a reminder, in the so-called “Kombinat” district of Gori, a group of law enforcement officers used physical force against two men. The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the potential abuse of power by the police.
One of the participants in the Gori incident, Lasha Abisonashvili, recounted how the conflict with the police began, which he claims led to him and his friend being beaten.
The man stated that the altercation started after a police car began tailing his friend, who was walking on foot during a break at work.
According to Abisonashvili, he tried to help his friend but ended up being beaten as well.
