Georgian Foreign Minister Meets with US State Department Representatives

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili met with US State Department representatives Charles Yockey and Peter Andreoli, who arrived in Tbilisi.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation between Georgia and the US. Special attention was paid to the “Middle Corridor” and Georgia’s role as a regional link and transport hub.

“Both sides expressed a firm readiness to continue working to strengthen bilateral cooperation.”

The press release also noted that during the meeting, “the United States’ strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia was emphasized.”

Earlier, Yockey and Andreoli also met with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The head of government interpreted the visit of the State Department representatives as another step toward restoring relations between Tbilisi and Washington. The Georgian government stated that the parties discussed the “importance of a reset” and the restoration of the strategic partnership “based on a concrete roadmap.”

The State Department delegation also met with the Georgian opposition.
