The Iranian Ambassador to Tbilisi, Ali Mojani, shared information about the visit of Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili to the capital’s Jumah Mosque. He expressed his gratitude to Kavelashvili for his “dialogue with the Muslim world,” noting that this step has far greater significance than just an official visit.
“During the meeting with the President of Georgia at the Tbilisi Jumah Mosque, I, as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a Muslim country, wanted to share an important thought: our and your visions of the philosophy of peace, and the place and role of human beings, are very close to each other.”
According to the diplomat, today, as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, the words of the late Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II, spoken many years ago, acquire great significance—he named three fundamental principles: “God, Homeland, and Man.” Ali Mojani believes that this idea brings Islamic thought and the Orthodox Christian worldview closer together.
The ambassador also noted that Kavelashvili’s visit to the mosque is an important sign of mutual respect, coexistence, and dialogue between civilizations.
“We must strive to ensure that relations between the Islamic and Orthodox worlds are not limited to theological discussions and religious circles, but instead transform into a living bond between nations, families, and individuals, as a peaceful future is built precisely on people getting to know one another,” the Iranian diplomat stated.
