Georgian Foreign Ministry: Germany Has Still Not Accepted Credentials of New Ambassador

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reported that the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Germany has not yet presented his credentials to the President of Germany, although copies of them were submitted to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany back on December 17, 2025.

IPN reports that the Georgian side has not yet received any official explanation from Germany on this matter.

The ministry stated that Alexander Kartozia was appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Germany on October 1, 2025, on the basis of an agrément issued by the German side on September 10, 2025.

“As far as we are aware, since October 1, 2025, the President of Germany has already accepted credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors of Lebanon, Bahrain, Ecuador, Ghana, Canada, Nigeria, Indonesia, the Union of the Comoros, the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, New Zealand, and Mongolia.

The Georgian side has not received an official explanation from the German side. Furthermore, the official website of the German Federal Foreign Office has still not updated its information regarding the representatives of the Georgian government, despite repeated official notifications from Georgia.

For the Georgian side, the inconsistent approaches of the German Federal Foreign Office towards the Georgian state remain completely incomprehensible,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry stated.
