Iranian Ambassador and Metropolitan Andria Discuss Youth Digital Addiction

The Iranian Ambassador to Georgia, Seyyed Ali Mojani, reported on his meeting with Metropolitan Andria of Gori and Ateni.

According to the diplomat, the two sides discussed issues of spirituality, societal challenges, and relations between Iran and Georgia.

Ali Mojani noted that special attention was paid to the growing problem of digital addiction among young people. The interlocutors pointed out that excessive immersion in digital technologies can lead to alienation from family, society, and real life. In their view, this issue is highly relevant for both Georgia and Iran.

They also discussed the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. Metropolitan Andria noted that the ongoing changes are revolutionary in nature, but rather than resisting them, it is necessary to find ways to harness the opportunities of the digital era without losing face-to-face communication and social connections.

The Iranian Ambassador shared that the meeting also touched upon the shared values of Orthodox and Shia spiritual traditions, noting that such dialogue helps strengthen mutual understanding between the Georgian and Iranian peoples.

“Metropolitan Andria struck me as an educated, broad-minded, and wise spiritual leader who speaks of modern Iran with respect and goodwill. This meeting was particularly memorable and insightful for me. I hope that such dialogues will continue in the future, further strengthening mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the Iranian and Georgian peoples,” the ambassador noted in his statement.
