Abkhazia is considering the possibility of launching international flights from Sukhumi International Airport, de facto President Badra Gunba stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, flights from Sukhumi Airport are currently operated only to Russian cities, which is a priority destination. However, Sukhumi does not rule out the possibility of launching other international flights.
“Definitely, of course, we are focused on this work,” Gunba said.
According to him, Georgia is preventing the start of international flights.
“Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to operate flights to any countries other than Russia, as Georgia blocks this through ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization),” Gunba noted, expressing hope that this issue would be resolved in the near future.
